NextMetro Privacy Policy
NextMetro is designed to help you time your WMATA commute without creating an account, tracking you, or building a server-side commute profile.
Data We Collect
NextMetro does not collect personal data from you and does not require an account. Your walk buffer, commute window, and route settings are stored on your devices so the app can request relevant train predictions.
Location and Tracking
NextMetro does not request location access and does not track you across apps or websites.
Apple Watch Sync
If you use the Apple Watch app, NextMetro syncs commute settings from your iPhone to your Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.
WMATA
NextMetro requests train predictions through a NextMetro-operated proxy at api.nextmetro.app. The proxy adds NextMetro's WMATA API key before forwarding the prediction request to WMATA. WMATA provides the arrival data and may process requests according to its own terms and policies.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, NextMetro schedules local reminders on your device so you know when to start walking. Notification permissions can be changed in iOS or watchOS Settings.
